Privacy Policy

1. General provisions

This website, aep.kpi.ua (the “Website”), is operated by the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, a legal entity registered and operating under Ukrainian law, with EDRPOU registration code 02070921 (the “University”, “we” or “us”).

The University respects the privacy of visitors and seeks to protect personal data: information relating to an identified or identifiable individual. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the Website.

By using the Website, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you should not use the Website. Personal data are processed in accordance with Ukraine’s Law on Personal Data Protection (in Ukrainian). Questions about this policy may be sent to ecampus@kpi.ua.

The Website may link to other websites for your convenience. The University is not responsible for their content or privacy policies. This policy applies to information collected through this Website and web applications within the aep.kpi.ua domain. Other University websites, mobile applications and departmental portals may have their own privacy policies; where they do, this policy does not apply to them.

2. Information collected

The Website uses standard tools to count visitors and page views and assess traffic, technical performance and audience activity. This information helps us understand which content is useful, organise pages and resources, and improve compatibility with visitors’ browsers.

The information collected includes:

• Technical information: a session identifier, IP address and associated location information.
• Information you provide: material you voluntarily send when you contact us, upload files or otherwise supply information to the University.

Information collected in these ways may be used as described in section 5.

3. Why we collect and process information

• To provide information you request.
• To provide news and notifications relevant to particular University units or geographical areas.
• To enable participation in interactive features of the University’s Website.
• To analyse anonymised information and traffic so that we can improve the University’s websites and mobile and web applications.
• To identify, prevent and promptly resolve technical problems.

4. How information is collected

Information may be received directly through emails, submitted forms and uploaded files. It may also be collected when you visit the University’s web pages or authenticate through OAuth.

5. Storage, use and disclosure to third parties

We do not offer your personal information to third parties as a service. Information that we collect or that you provide may be disclosed in the circumstances described in this policy:

• To fulfil the purpose for which you supplied it.
• To service providers and other third parties engaged to support our activities.
• As aggregate information about users or information that does not identify an individual.
• For another purpose disclosed to you when you provide the information.

We may also disclose personal information to comply with Ukrainian court orders, legislation or legal proceedings, including requests and orders from Ukrainian public authorities, such as the Ministry of Education and Science, under whose authority the University operates. Information may also be disclosed when necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of the University, its employees and students, or other people.

6. Cookies

Cookies are small text files that websites may place on your computer or mobile device when you first visit a website or page. They allow a website to recognise your device on later visits. For example, cookies may help remember a username or preferences, assess how well the Website works, or provide relevant content.

We use cookies for the following purposes:

The University may change this Privacy Policy at its discretion without prior notice. The document’s revision date can be used to check whether the policy has changed.

9. Data protection

Personal information you provide is stored on a server protected against unauthorised access and accessible only to the administrator. The Website uses SSL. Because transmitting information over the Internet involves inherent risks, we cannot guarantee the security of information while it is being sent to the Website. Transmission is at your own risk.

We are not responsible for circumvention of privacy settings or security measures on the Website. Users are responsible for keeping any login credentials confidential.

10. Requests to correct or delete personal data

To request correction or deletion of personal information you have provided, or to seek clarification of this policy, email ecampus@kpi.ua. We reserve the right to decline a request if we consider that fulfilling it would violate the law or distort information. Data that have been deleted or altered by the Website’s algorithms cannot be retrieved or deleted in their previous form.
