International Activity

The Department of Automation of Energy Processes participates in EduNet, an international education network established and developed by Phoenix Contact, a German automation-equipment manufacturer. EduNet gives students access to practical learning with industrial equipment and opportunities to take part in international engineering competitions.

Student projects

In 2018, two AEP student projects received awards in the Xplore New Automation Award: Basanabar, a concept intended to help save lives in road accidents, and Smart-City Waste and Logistics Systems, which explored the benefits of a shared urban information environment.

Academic and industry cooperation

Academic collaborators included KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden; Wrocław University of Science and Technology in Poland; and Leipzig University of Applied Sciences in Germany.

Historical industry cooperation included Phoenix Contact GmbH & Co. KG (Germany), for automation equipment and control-system components; Klinkmann (Finland), for automation systems and process integration; Wonderware (United States), for InTouch supervisory control, process simulation and manufacturing execution systems; and Honeywell (United States), a supplier of industrial automation technologies.
