Turn an engineering idea into original research
Doctoral study in automation and computer-integrated technologies combines advanced coursework with independent research. Explore the programme, laboratory facilities and departmental research as you develop your own direction.
The PhD is an academic and research qualification awarded after completion of a doctoral programme and a public thesis defence. Admission requires an appropriate prior qualification; consult the admission rules for the precise requirements.
The general PhD model includes 30–60 ECTS credits of coursework. The relevant programme edition defines the actual credit load and courses. The research component involves independent investigation, preparation of a thesis and its defence.
A route outside formal doctoral enrolment is also provided for eligible professionals engaged in scientific, technical or academic work, subject to completing the programme and defending a thesis. Ask the university about the applicable conditions.
Universities and research institutions may provide doctoral training within their licensed scope, including jointly arranged programmes that share responsibility for coursework and research.

The department connects control theory with its application in real systems. Practical areas include industrial automation, modern IT tools and Advanced Process Control methods.
Cooperation with industrial enterprises, the Association of Industrial Automation of Ukraine and technology companies connects research questions with engineering practice. Contact the department to discuss your idea and possible collaboration with a research team.
Research experience can support work in R&D, engineering, technical management, teaching or the development of a technology start-up.
