Updating the hardware and technical base in partnership with Schneider Electric

Within the cooperation with the strategic partner Schneider Electric, the Department of Energy Process Automation received technical means of automation to update the material and technical base of the laboratory of information and measurement systems and the laboratory of engineering systems of buildings.

Part of the equipment will be used for the development of robotics at the department, in particular industrial motors with encoders, servo converters, frequency converter, etc.

A large number of existing training stands with registrators will be updated with advanced HMI operator panels. The core of the information and measurement systems laboratory will be the Modicon M262 PLC.

We are sincerely grateful to Schneider Electric Ukraine for cooperation and assistance in increasing the efficiency of the educational process.

A meeting of students of our department with representatives of the company “Global 17 East” took place.

Global 17 East is a subsidiary of the leading Swiss company in the design of power supply systems HHM Group with offices in Ukraine (Kyiv and Dnipro).

The team (about 60 specialists):

most of them are engaged in the design of power supply systems;
there is a group of OVIK engineers;
there is a group of developers of plug-ins for Revit.

There was a meeting of students of the department with future partners – representatives of the engineering company “Octavis Engineering”, which is part of the “Octavis Group” group of companies.

We sincerely congratulate the students of NN IATE for winning the INT20H hackathon in the Mobile development category! Salyuk Vladyslav, 2nd year, IPZE department, and Taras Leonovets, 3rd year, AEP department – great guys! On March 3, the INT20H hackathon took place, an annual IT competition organized by students for students. During 20 hours, participants work on creating the latest solutions in the selected categories, pump up their hard and soft skills.

Best practices in cooperation between science and business in cluster associations

Employees of our department took part in the conference on March 1-2, 2024, which demonstrated the most vivid examples of cooperation between science and business in cluster associations.

Traditionally, in Ukraine, it is believed that there are big barriers between science and business that have not been overcome for years. These persistent paradigms have been supported by both science and business for so long that it sometimes feels like they “buried each other.” At the same time, a number of communities see the situation differently, and, in particular, the members of the Ukrainian Cluster Alliance have long been pursuing large-scale cooperation in various regions and industries.

Cooperation with production

Volodymyr Voloshchuk, Head of the ATEP Department, visited Ukrinterm LLC. Together with this enterprise the project on development of low-temperature Smart-system of heat supply of buildings on the basis of the condensing modular boiler room is planned. Scientific and technical development involves the creation of low-temperature (with direct water temperature up to 50oC) heating system of the building on the basis of condensing modular boiler room by developing and implementing mathematical and computer models of such a system, applying criteria to justify its parameters and operating methods, also based on the introduction of the concept of “digital twin”.

Temperature monitoring at the ATEP department

Intelligent temperature and humidity sensors are located in the premises and auditoriums of the ATEP department. Thanks to the presence of a microprocessor module and a WiFi communication module, data is transmitted to the cloud via a wireless interface. Information is accessed through the WEB interface.

The system is currently in test mode. In the future, this monitoring of microclimate parameters will be extended to other floors and integrated with the control system of the heating point of the 5th building for the implementation of integrated control and management of energy consumption of the educational building.

Industry 4.0 is about new views on production at the crossroads of industries and disciplines. That is why the Department of ATEP as an academic member of the Association of Industrial Automation Enterprises – the leader of the domestic innovation movement – takes an active part in building our common future. The general seminar, which recently, 03.02.21, brought together representatives of research groups of the university and active teachers, as well as entire departments – shows readiness for change and development. KPI is a huge community of motivated people with vast experience who know how to generate knowledge and turn it into practical projects. Digital duplicates, BigData, smart factories, cloud technologies, communications and the use of artificial intelligence are a reality that needs to be prepared by a new generation of engineers and taught by our companies. We strive for this and we are doing it.

Publication of the monograph “Exergetic analysis of systems for creating thermal comfort in buildings”

Co-authored with Doctor of Technical Sciences, Acting Head of the Department of Automation of Heat and Power Processes Voloshchuk VA the monograph “Exergetic analysis of systems of creation of thermal comfort in buildings” was published.
The work is devoted to the development and application of methods of exergy analysis for systems of thermal comfort in buildings. Modern methods, criteria and parameters of estimation of heat power systems on the basis of exergy approach are analyzed. Modern tendencies of technical and technological decisions in the field of heat supply are presented. Particular attention is paid to models of human thermal comfort. The realization of the in-depth exergetic analysis of the heat pump installation as a part of system of heat supply of the house is offered. Using the methodology of exergoeconomic analysis, on the example of the district heating system of the urban area, the substantiation of the choice of type and characteristics of the heat supply source is shown.
This monograph is intended for scientific, pedagogical and engineering workers of educational institutions, specialists engaged in the efficient use of energy resources, as well as for graduate students and senior students of universities of relevant specialties.
