Rubin-M is a protected, onboard “black box” for measuring, recording, processing and storing rolling-stock operating parameters. It begins recording automatically when the vehicle is powered. Authorised operators can review live data and reconstruct vehicle conditions before, during and after an incident.
The recorder can be installed on metro and railway rolling stock, trams, trolleybuses, buses and other vehicles. Depending on the installation, it records up to 35 discrete signals indicating the state of onboard systems, automatic train signalling and speed regulation indications (ALS-ARS), actual speed, and pressure in the brake cylinder and brake line. Parameters are time-stamped and recorded every 0.1 seconds. Up to two pressure sensors can be installed, with a measuring range of 14 kgf/cm².
In the standard configuration, the recorder’s memory can retain ten years of data when the vehicle operates 20 hours per day. Data is transferred to a portable or desktop workstation by cable or contactless connection, then decoded, visualised and archived using dedicated software. Archives can be stored on CD or DVD. The data logger includes self-diagnostics and indicates detected faults on the device.
Automatic data retrieval can be configured when a train or locomotive reaches a depot, turnaround point or another location where it remains stopped for at least 45 seconds. Transferred information is encrypted and can be decoded and reviewed only on a workstation with the required software. An optional configuration can transmit data continuously in real time and provide a workstation for monitoring a fleet and signalling abnormal events.
Optional subsystems include GPS/GLONASS, sound and video recording, and a voice information system. The recording device is intended to collect evidence for operational review; it does not control the vehicle.
