The second-lift pump station supplied water to Kyivenergo CHP-5 and connected consumers. Water from three geographically distributed artesian wells flowed into station storage tanks and was then pumped into the CHP-5 water-supply system. The main control objective was to maintain the required network pressure.
The project requirements covered remote control of all three wells; manual and automatic operation of potable-water and fire pumps; automatic protection and interlocks; display of process values and pump status; automatic outlet-pressure control; timely alarms; and continuous archiving of process data and events. The HMI/SCADA application included separate user access rights for operator workstations.
The described implementation replaced the third potable-water pump with a WILO three-pump unit, installed an electrically actuated valve on the discharge of the second potable-water pump for pressure control, and added power and controller cabinets at the pump station and three well sites. A server cabinet in the CHP-5 server room collected controller data. The HMI/SCADA application was developed in InTouch. Systems integrator: EKNIS-ENGINEERING.
