Please take a moment to read answers from a fourth-year student to questions you may have. Have you decided to apply to the Department of Automation of Thermal Power Processes at the Thermal Power Engineering Faculty?
“Is it difficult to study?” That is part of what you come to university for, isn’t it? Laboratories and coursework become difficult if you leave them until the night before the exam, after your classmates have already submitted their work and gone to sleep.
“What will I be able to do after graduating?” You will have a versatile engineering foundation. As a fourth-year student, I can already produce complex drawings, design and configure a complex network for a high-rise building, and automate processes, especially in thermal power.
“I want to become a programmer!” Starting in the first year, students take programming in C, C++ and C#. In the fourth year, we learn to program industrial controllers. One of the best-known manufacturers is Schneider Electric; the controller is right in front of you as you work, and we learn five programming languages for it.
“Are the instructors good?” More than half of the instructors I know work or have worked in the field they teach. Their practical backgrounds speak to their qualifications.
“Where and what will I work on?” Your knowledge will be broad. Drawing followed by design prepares you to design different kinds of systems. Automatic control helps you automate technological processes. You will also study computer networks, programming, electrical engineering, databases and even philosophy. You are not limited to thermal power; how you apply that knowledge depends on your interests.
I think the choice is clear.
