How application priorities work · 2026

In the 2026 cycle, applicants may submit up to five state-funded and up to five fee-paying applications. Each application has a unique priority from 1 to 10, with 1 the highest. Once the institution has processed an application, its priority cannot be changed.

A recommendation on a fee-paying application removes lower-priority applications, including state-funded ones, from the broad competition. State-funded applications without a recommendation can enter the fee-paying competition after 29 August.

The rules allow separate applications to the same offer, for example a state-funded application at priority 1 and a fee-paying application at priority 6. Consider their order carefully and consult the current rules.
