The Internet of Things laboratory is designed to develop practical skills in designing, building, implementing and maintaining IoT and industrial IoT (IIoT) systems. Workstations use Raspberry Pi 4 educational kits with peripheral sensors and actuators, all connected through a shared information network so students can practise device-to-device communication.
mySCADA Technologies is identified as the project partner. Its software supports applied SCADA projects, Node.js and JavaScript administration, and visualisation designed around engineering ergonomics, High-Performance HMI and Situational Awareness principles. The page also cites ANSI/ISA-101.01-2015, Human Machine Interfaces for Process Automation Systems, and covers IoT integration methods and student projects.
Department staff prepare the teaching materials and course programmes. Learning activities introduce multi-vendor IoT systems, web-based supervisory control and a systems approach to developing and deploying IIoT solutions.
